Earn Online Cash by Driving Traffic to Your Site

If you want to earn online cash it is important that you learn how to drive traffic toward your sites. You can have the most stunning custom designed theme, the cleverest multimedia presentations, the best written content and if you don’t have traffic, you won’t earn any money and you probably won’t even have many social referral visitors. The primary kind of traffic you want to your site are targeted visitors in a buying mood arriving from Google and other search engines. Let’s examine how you can get this kind of traffic to your site.

I won’t go over keyword selection again except to say that most niches have a finite amount of traffic. If a particular keyword has reached it’s potential you’ll probably want to branch out to embrace new keywords or else just let that particular site be an unattended cash cow or a supporting site.

Now, as you may know, incoming links to your site are the most important thing in getting your site indexed by the search engines and then ranking well in the search results. Good, niche related, links will also get you referral traffic as well although this generally isn’t enough to sustain a site over time. The question is how to get the links you need to properly publicize your site.

I’ve already covered some quick indexing techniques so we’ll assume that you’ve done this and your site is indexed. This initial step, which you’ll repeat for each post to your niche blog, is pinging, which is usually automated by the blogging software, and bookmark using Bookmarking Demon. Submissions to directory and RSS aggregation sites can also help you publicize your site and get links to it. The next step is to build up a portfolio of supporting sites that will help funnel referral traffic toward your site while building links to it. Let’s look at a few techniques you can use to support your money making niche web site.

One common approach is to use article marketing. To do this, you write 10 unique articles on your niche, preferably more generic than your money site’s niche, and have your money site’s keyword anchored link in the resource box. Then submit one each to the top 10 article directories. Then you wait for them to be approved. Once they’re approved, use Bookmarking Demon to bookmark these articles on social bookmarking sites. You might even try resubmitting these articles to minor article directories that aren’t picky about duplicate content or you can spin them if you want. Essentially, the rule is ‘the more the merrier’ when it comes to this kind of low level promotion. Remember, duplicate content isn’t quite as big a problem as some would have to believe.

Once your articles are published, take the articles and republish them to free blogs on Blogger, WordPress.com, Tripod and any other free blogging systems that you can use. You can also use supporting blogs of your own that you host on your own domains to do this. Note that you’ll be publishing them complete with the resource box, just as if some user of the article directory had used them. You can also add in links to specific pages on your money site into the article. I also suggest throwing in links to major authority and news sites like CNN, ESPN, Wikipedia and so forth to add additional value to the content. You will also use Bookmarking Demon on these supporting sites as well. You can use content from PLR articles and my own Blog Content Wizard to further pad out these blogs.

In addition to free blogs, create static sites at places like Squidoo, HubPages, Blinkweb, Synthasite and others. I suggest pointing to both your money site and your supporting sites from these sites. And, of course, use Bookmarking Demon to bookmark these sites as well and include links to other valuable sites. Make sure that you follow the rules of these sites, and the free blogs, in order to avoid deletions or other penalties.

You can also publicize your blog and get links for it by commenting on other blogs in your niche or related niches. I suggest looking for blogs that follow comments and use plugins like Top Commentator and Comment Luv to get the most effective use of your time. Remember to always leave a meaningful and on-topic comment that adds to the conversation at hand and follow the blog owner’s rules so far as anchored links go. I recommend that you bookmark pages you comment on with StumbleUpon and add them to a Bookmarking Demon run to help out the generous blog owner as well as yourself.

Lastly, you can find other places, such as forums, where you can publicize your blog and secondary supporting sites. Once again, follow them rules of the site and provide good and useful content. Oh, and, yes, use Bookmarking Demon here too.

When all is said and done, which takes about 30-90 days on average, you should be generating significant search engine and referral traffic to your money site. It does take some work though so be prepared. Most people slack off on doing the promotion of their site and seem to hope “if I build it they will come”. Hey, I’ve been guilty of this myself. But, if you want to earn online cash you have to put in the promotion work to drive traffic to your site.LINK.....

Earn Online Cash with One Page Mini-Sites

One way to earn online cash is with one page mini-sites. A mini-site is, of course, a site with just a few pages. In this case we’re going to look at sites that have only one primary page that sells a product or acts as an affiliate site for a product or products. While there may be some additional web pages to support the site, the emphasis is on a single page. There are several different models you can use and I’ll briefly go over them here. Also, I’ve got a free mini-site template that I’ve giving away.

Digital Product Sales Mini-Sites

These are the sites that you see selling eBooks and software. This is the format I use for my Blog Content Wizard site and other sites that use scripts like the Seven Dollar Script. These sites usually consist of a long page promoting the product in big splashy fonts and eCover graphics. There will sometimes videos, testimonials and other things to promote the product. And let’s not forget the all important order button!

I won’t go over the specifics of this kind of mini-site but, once again, I’ll direct you to Dave’s sales page design system. Dave is quite good at designing these sales pages and his eBook has some very good tips.

Other pages on the site might include a disclaimer or policies page, an affiliates information page or an about page. However, there is generally only one primary page and it’s focused totally on selling the product at hand. The links to secondary pages are buried in the footer. There will also be back end supporting pages for one-time-offers and the like as well as order confirmation and download pages but these won’t be seen except by buyers.

Product Review Mini-Sites

This kind of site is setup to get affiliate sales for a particular set of products. Most often you’ll find these sites reviewing Clickbank products because they’re the most lucrative although this same method can be used with physical products from eBay, Amazon, Commission Junction and others.

The way this works is that you select 3 to 5 products that are related and write a 2-4 paragraph review of each, describing pro and cons of each product. It may help to use a 1 to 5 stars graphic for your overall opinion. Of course, your reviews may be made up or borrowed by mashing together others’ opinions. The important thing though is to have the product that will earn you the highest commission in the first slot as the ‘best’ product and then work them on down to the lowest commission. After all, isn’t the product with the highest commission the best one for you?

Another variation on the review site is a really bogus one that you see crop up whenever a big Clickbank Internet marketing product is released. You’ll see mini-sites targeting keywords like “Google Mauler Scam” trying to bring in curious potential buyers and direct them toward their affiliate link. I suppose this works but generally there’s a huge amount of competition chasing what may be a small pool of money so unless you can get a site to rank well, don’t expect much.

One clever variation on the review site that I’ve seen recently is one where a person does a screen capture video of themselves actually using the product and describing what they like and dislike about it. How well will this convert? I don’t know. However, it shows visitors that you actually have to product and put it to use which increases the credibility of the site.

These sites should also have additional minor pages such as an About or Policies page to round the site out in the robotic eyes of Google and to add credibility to the site for human visitors.

Informational Mini-Sites

The informational mini-site is kind of like a niche marketing blog except it’s only one, keyword rich, targeted article. It can be monetized with Adsense, eBay, Amazon, CJ or other affiliate offers. Which method to select depends on the type of product will be the most lucrative for your targeted keywords. For example, a domain on ‘Iowa Divorce Lawyers’ would obviously be Adsense while one on ‘Replica Tiffany Lamps’ would be eBay.

While blogs have some advantages, such as easier link building via commenting and RSS feeds, the informational mini-site is quick and easy to create. Since it’s HTML only with no database or server site code to process, it has a very small footprint, unlike a blog that can really eat up processing power on a server.

I’ve found these sites to be an effective way to get something up quickly on pre-owned domains I’ve purchased and thus getting the domain indexed by Google at the root level along with an About and Policies page.

Other Mini-Site Types

There are some other one page mini-site types around, such a viral mini-sites, but I’ll cover them later. I’ve gone on long enough here, don’t you think?

My Mini-Site Template

As promised, here’s my mini-site template. You can view the demo site here and download it here. In addition to some basic graphics, the accompanying stylesheet has styles for doing highlighting, Adsense blocks, testimonial boxes and coupon boxes. If you have any questions about the template, feel free to ask.

I hope this has given you a good overview of how to earn online cash with one-page mini-sites. LINK.....

Earn Online Cash by Understanding Search Visitors

Earning cash online begins with understanding what people are searching for in Google and other search engines. To quote Big Dan Teague from the movie Oh, Brother Where Art Thou, “Recognize your customer. Who are you dealing with? It’s an exercise in psychology.” Basically there are 3 reasons why someone will find your site using a search engine. While all three types of searchers can lead to sales, one type in particular is the most likely to result in sale or a click on an advertisement. Let’s look at these types of visitors.

First, we have the navigational visitor, someone who’s looking for your site or sites because of who you are. For example, if someone is looking for a particular blogger they’re likely to type in that person’s name into Google. If they’re looking for a particular brand of product, they’ll enter that brand name. Their intention is to use the search engine to find the site rather than using built-in browser tools like bookmarks or the navigation dropdown bar. These visitors are not that likely to buy an affiliate product or click ads although if your site is selling something directly they will often buy if you make it easy for them to execute the purchase. This kind of traffic is great for a Seven Dollar Script site but isn’t that great for your average niche marketing blog in terms of making sales.

Next, we have the information seeking visitor. This is someone who’s looking for information on a particular topic, essentially trying to gather information about it. This kind of visitor is probably the least desired by Internet marketer’s trying to sell something or to subtlety convince visitors to click ads. There are two types of information seekers though. First, a visitor may be looking for a very specific topic, for example, “how to unclog a drain”. The second type may be looking for general information on a topic like “bathroom sinks”. However, the news isn’t all bad for this kind of visitor.

The first type of information seeker is looking for an answer now. If your site doesn’t have it they’ll move on to the next. With any luck they’ll select an ad you’re displaying to move forward in their quest rather than clicking the back button to return to Google. That’s why proper placement of ads is so important. If you tuck your ads away in nice, neat, 125×125 squares or 160×600 skyscapers in the sidebar the average informational visitor won’t notice them. But, if you put them in their face and make the ads the star of the show on the page, you stand a much better chance of getting a click through.

Our second type of information seeker is more of a browser. They probably aren’t in a buying mood but just gathering information on a topic that interests them at the moment. This, of course, means that they’re unlikely to buy unless they encounter a compelling sales pitch or something else that interrupts their browsing pattern. The good thing about a browser is that they’re often looking for more links to visit. Therefore, it’s important to present them with this option in a clear manner. I do this by using links in posts like this one to move browsers to offers but I’ve found this to be of limited effectiveness. What you have to do is interrupt the pattern of the browser although this is kind of tricky. Some people use “sales agent” popups on window closing, which some people find quite annoying. Other’s use pictures of attractive women on the page while others use compelling graphics (a technique common for email and zip submit landing pages). If you find yourself getting a lot of informational browsers on your niche site while getting low click-thrus or conversions you might want to look into one of these techniques to interrupt the pattern while working toward targeting more productive keywords.

The last type of search visitor is the buying visitor, a visitor that’s looking to make a purchase or take some other specific action. This searcher is most likely to arrive at your site by typing in buying keywords into the search engine. For example, they may be looking for “cheapest electric guitars” or “best bankruptcy lawyer in Houston”. For this kind of visitor you want to get right down to business and show them what they want. If they’re looking a a cheap guitar or a good local lawyer, show them how to get it right up front. You don’t want them to read your long boring article about how to pick the right guitar or attorney. They certainly don’t want to read it no matter how well you wrote it. Instead, they’re ready to buy, now. Make it easy for them to figure out exactly how to do it by having your advertising and offers well placed and not buried in a sidebar or footer. Also, don’t distract them with stunning graphics or other social flagship blog building tricks.

It is important to understand which kind of visitor you’re getting the majority of in order to effectively monetize a site.

If you’re getting navigational traffic to your blog based on your name or blog’s name, this means that you are the product. Therefore you have to sell yourself and then sell the visitor on signing up for your RSS feed, subscription email list, following you on Twitter or the like. You will be counting on getting back end sales later on. In fact, you may find it effective to not show any ad blocks at all and go for mini-sales letter blog posts, emails or twits to promote affiliate products or your own products to your regular readers.

If your site is for a product and you’re getting navigational traffic, your sales letter needs to be effective at selling the product.

If you’re getting information seeking traffic present them with links for more information up front and consider using methods to get the visitor to break their browsing pattern and take notice of your site and its advertising. You should also consider trying to target buying keywords instead in your link building and titles if you want to improve the monetization of this kind of site.

If you’re getting buying visitors, congratulations, you’re doing things right. Just make sure that it’s very easy for them to find the path that will lead to you earning online cash.LINK.....
